Flipkart Grid is an annual event organized by Flipkart, one of India’s largest e-commerce companies. It serves as a platform to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and talent in the country.

Flipkart Grid 5.0 is a hackathon event organized by Flipkart, held in association with Unacademy. It aimed to bring together aspiring entrepreneurs, innovators, and developers to solve real-world business and technology challenges faced by the e-commerce industry. The event provided participants with an opportunity to showcase their skills and compete for exciting prizes.

The Flipkart Grid 5.0 hackathon consisted of multiple tracks, including Software Development, Machine Learning, and Product Design. Participants were required to form teams and work on specific problem statements within their chosen track. They were given a certain period of time to develop innovative solutions and present them to a panel of judges.

The hackathon provided participants with access to resources, mentorship, and guidance from industry experts to help them refine their ideas and develop their prototypes. It also offered networking opportunities with professionals from Flipkart and Unacademy.

Eligibility & Team Rules

Eligibility:

1. Age Requirement: Participants are usually required to be at least 18 years old to participate in the event.
2. Residency: The event may be open to participants from specific countries or regions.
3. Registration: Participants may need to register for the event through the unstop platform.

Team Rules:

1. Team Size: There may be a limit on the number of members allowed in a team. It can range from individual participation to teams of 1-3 members.
2. Formation: Participants can form their teams before or during the event. Some events may also provide an option to join as an individual and be assigned to a team.
3. Skill Diversity: Teams may be encouraged to have diverse skill sets, such as developers, designers, and domain experts, to bring a well-rounded approach to problem-solving.
4. Team Changes: Once formed, teams may not be allowed to make changes to their composition during the event. It’s essential to carefully review the specific rules provided for the event you are interested in. Also a member can not be a part of 2 or more teams.

Stages

The Software Development Track in Flipkart Grid 5.0 has a structured process with three elimination levels to assess participants’ technical, analytical, and ideation skills. These levels are designed to filter out candidates and select the most qualified individuals or teams for the National Finale.

During the elimination levels, participants will face challenges or tasks that will test their abilities in areas such as software development, problem-solving, data analysis, and generating innovative ideas. These challenges may involve coding assignments, algorithmic problem-solving, or designing software solutions.

Those who successfully clear the elimination levels will move forward to the National Finale. At the National Finale, the finalists will have the opportunity to present their solutions to a panel of domain experts at Flipkart. These experts will likely be individuals with deep knowledge and experience in the relevant field or industry.

The purpose of this structure is to ensure that the finalists are not only technically proficient but also capable of presenting their solutions effectively and communicating their ideas to industry experts. The National Finale serves as a platform for showcasing the finalists’ innovative solutions and potentially attracting investment or support for their projects.

Level 1: E-Commerce & Tech Quiz

• All registered teams will have to take an online quiz
• All the members of a team are eligible to attempt the quiz round
• A team will be scored based on the average marks of the team members attempting the quiz round
• All teams will be taking this quiz simultaneously during the quiz window
• Every participant will be ranked on accuracy (score) and speed (finish time) i.e., if two teams have the same score, then the team that finished earlier will be ranked higher
• Participating teams will move on to the next level based on their performance in this assessment
• It will be based on E-Commerce Trivia (Reference: https://stories.flipkart.com) and Tech (Technology Awareness + Techstack & Computer Science Fundamentals)

Level 2: Submission Round

• Shortlisted teams from level 1 will have to participate in level 2
• You’ll be given a problem statement according to the domain area of interest selected post level 1
• Teams will have access to only one problem statement that has been allocated to them
• You’ll be able to make submissions until the deadline for this level anytime during the challenge window
• The candidates can compress their videos here
• The expectation in this level will be to submit the functional proof of concept along with the demo video and code submission
• Participating teams in this level will move on to the next level based on their performance

Level 3: The National Finale: In the final level of the GRiD, finalists will be invited to showcase their solutions to the panel of domain experts at Flipkart.

Attractive prizes to be won along with the opportunity to be a part of the hiring process for Tech Internships & Full-Time Roles (Internship Stipend: INR 1,00,000 per month; SDE-1 Role Compensation: INR 32 LPA)

• First Runners-Up Get EGVs worth INR 75,000*

Certificate of merit will be provided to the following:

• Top 20 teams per college
• Level 1 qualifying teams
• Finalists

Career Opportunities

• Top teams who qualify for level 2 will get a chance to be a part of the hiring process for internship and full-time tech roles at Flipkart
• Teams who reach the finale get a PPI for a software tech role (internship/full-time).
